FIAM

The uniqueness of FIAM lies in its mastery of glass, making it flexible and obedient. The company is a leader in glass manufacturing, as no one else knows how to “negotiate” with this fascinating material like they do.
Vittorio Livi, the founder of FIAM, studied the chemical properties and physical capabilities of glass from a very young age. Passionate about experimentation, he once accepted a challenge from designer Cini Boeri to create a glass chair based on her design.

Boeri designed the chair model using a sheet of paper, bending it in an original way. Vittorio was able to bring her vision to life in glass. This experiment proved to the world that, with love and craftsmanship, glass can be transformed into something extraordinary.
Ghost means spirit, shadow, trace, likeness, essence, soul. Only glass can turn this abstract concept into a physical object. Thus, glass took the shape of a chair—a container, not for liquid, but for the human body.
As Vittorio recalls:
“When I was presented with the Ghost project, Cini immediately told me: ‘I know this will be impossible.’ In that moment, this brilliant professional seemed like a little girl who wanted one of the most beautiful dolls, while her assistant, Tomo Katayanagi, stood with wide-open eyes, hesitant to speak.”

Marcel Wanders, often considered an anomaly in the design world, set out to “create an environment where love reigns, live with passion, and bring our most exciting dreams to life.” In this universe, the coldness of industrialism is replaced by poetry, imagination, and the romance of various eras, vividly expressed in modern times.

The collaboration with this visionary artist gave birth to the ECHO collection—where glass surfaces, through a special melting technique, lose their initial flatness, bringing warmth and materiality to new forms. In the ECHO collection, everyday objects of contemporary living acquire a new philosophy. Vertical glass lines play with light and shadow, geometric patterns resemble delicate lace, and opaque colored finishes add depth to each detail.
